At the Games Convention press conference 2006 Xbox gathered the press to regale them with the latest and greatest of what's on deck for the consumer electronics giant. They demonstrated their innovative strength by announcing several new features. The press conferences were held for about 250 international journalists in an amphitheater that was built in as a part of the booth. Stereolize visualized the press conference on a 14 by 5 meters LED wall in the speaker’s background. We also designed the brand new Microsoft game studio presentation. Therefore we took the existing computer game graphics mapped them on rectangle 3D Objects and arranged them in 3d space. Each of them could be selected individually by the presenter in realtime to explain special features.
As camera teams from all over the world were broadcasting the press conference we ran it with 50hz instead of the usual format based on 60hz to ensure there are no frequency differences which makes the screen recording flicker. Once more Ventuz proofed to be the right tool as there were some last minute changes which we could solve without trouble due to the flexibility of the program. Beside the press conference we also were responsible for 15 DLP projectors for a 360° ring projection interactively controlled by a running wheel placed on the outside of the amphitheater.
